Aromatherapy- Maple Holistics Product Review

The holiday season is one of my busiest times of the year. Between wrapping up content and preparing for the holidays it is hard to find time to relax. Thankfully, I am receiving a little help this season courtesy of Maple Holistics. Find out more below.

Maple Holistics is a natural health and beauty brand. I was sent their Dead Sea Salt with Eucalyptus to try out. One of the first things I noticed is the Eucalyptus scent. It was a little strong, but not overpowering. I used the sea salt for a long overdue foot bath. The sea salt is not too coarse and quickly dissolved which is something I personally appreciated. After using it my feet are feeling much softer. Overall, I like the product.

One thing I would add is that I requested the Lavender, but I think it might have been a minor mix-up. Other than that, I don’t have any complaints. I will be trying out more products soon.

To Write or Not to Write? - Topic Selections

In our Blogger Life II Series, I have covered topics such as collaborations tips, building a blogging tribe, and selecting social media platforms. Now it is time for the final topic in the series: topic selections. Selecting the right topic is a major part of the writing process for any writer or blogger. If you need a little guidance before your next assignment here are a few tips.

Select Topics You Care About

It is easy to pick a topic based on popularity especially if you are a fashion writer or blogger. However, you should select topics you want to write about as well. Loyal readers can pick up on it in your writing. Plus, it will make the overall process go more smoothly.

Make A Topic List

Here’s one of my secrets I have a running topic list that I select from on a regular basis. It really comes in handy for when I am stumped for a blog post idea. Plus, it helps me keep track of the ones I have already used.

Set Up a Feedback Survey for Ideas

If you can’t seem to figure out what to write about it then look no further than your audience. Why not set up a short survey asking your readers which topic they might want you to write about.

Don’t Force It

Your chosen topic isn’t quite coming together like you hoped? Don’t try to force it. Take a break to relax. You can always come back to the topic. I find it helpful particularly when it came to putting together this post.

Research

What some of you may not know is that a lot of research goes into our blog posts. I really aim to write content that I am passionate about and will be enjoyed by our readers. I usually check out WWD, Vogue and other fashion outlets for breaking fashion news scope.

Write Mode Prep

Before I get in my write mode I like to get my mind ready to write (i.e. morning devotionals). What helps me concentrate is playing one of my favorite playlist on Spotify.

Making Graphics

Here’s a little secret for our readers I personally make all the graphics for My Own Sense of Fashion. I am far from anyone’s graphic designer so websites like Canva helps make it easier.

Editing

Editing is a big part of the writing process. Having a great editor and Grammarly helps me catch errors that I may have missed.

Scheduling & Etc.

My blogging schedule allows me to stay on track with all my assignments especially since this time of year is usually one of my busiest times Plus, it helps me have more time for my personal obligations.

Well, there you have it, just some of the things I do to help make sure My Own Sense of Fashion is a well-oiled machine. I couldn’t reveal all my secrets. I like to keep some of the mystery.

Turn the Page- My Favorite Books

One of my favorite hobbies is to read during my spare time. Ever since I was a kid you would find me with my favorite book or two. I am happy to report that my love of books has continued into adulthood. The only thing that has changed is that now I purchase my own books. While I have read several books over the years, I am sharing a few of my favorites. Check them out below.

Loves Music, Loves to Dance by Mary Higgins Clark

I first read this book back in high school several years ago. I love mystery and it was first time reading this author.

Successful Women Think Differently: 9 Habits to Make You Happier, Healthier, and More Resilient by Valorie Burton

Let’s be honest sometimes we all need help and advice from an outside source. It really put some things in perspective. I also had a chance to meet the author a few years back.

The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg

This book takes me back to the 3^rd grade when I checked it out of the school’s library. It is pretty much a childhood classic.

Queen of Babble by Meg Cabot

Meg Cabot became one of my favorite authors after I read the first book in her Princess Diaries series. After reading Queen of Babble I was hooked and bought the remaining two books in the series.

Stunning in Stilettos: A Stunning Contemporary Romance by Nana Malone

Romance Novels tend to get a bad rep as being cheesy and embarrassing to read. While that might true in some cases, this isn’t one of them. What I love about Nana Malone’s books is that they are realistically written and add humor.
