São Paulo Fashion Week 2015 (Winter 2016)

This past week São Paulo Fashion Week wrapped up its 20th-anniversary runway show for winter 2016 Ready – to-Wear collection.   Now the collections are still fresh, but here is quick rewind featuring some of the collections that were showcased over the week.

Day 1 (10/18/15)

The theme for this collection is a story of love, loss, sex and power that takes place in the bedroom.  Fabrics like cashmere tricoline, grosgrain ribbons, silk taffeta, elastic tulle and silk stretch satin help communicate the tale.

Day 2 (10/19/15)

The theme for this collection is Mysticism.  The designer uses dark colors and designs featuring symbols from astrology to illustrate the theme.

Fans of bold prints would love this collection.

This line comes from “denim jogging” which was launched two seasons prior.  This collection is able to bring sports design elements in a stylish way.

Day 4 (10/21/15)

The theme is the collection is Trip to Portugal.  The designer was inspired by a 15 day trip to Portugal he took last July. Portuguese tiles and Minho brides are some just some inspirations for the collection.

Juliana Jabour Winter 2016 Ready-to-Wear

I definitely picked on the 80s theme (triangle earrings, vivid prints, and updos) of this collection. Jabour was able to successfully take a popular theme without relying on too much on it.

Day 6 (10.23.2015)

Giuliana Romanno Winter 2016 Ready-to-Wear

Femininity played a huge part of this collection. This collection was kept intimate and small consisting only of 17 looks due to the size of the venue Rabieh gallery, the gardens chosen by Romanno himself. Some of my favorites from this collection include the stripe looks and the sewn in cape featured on one look.

The Atacama Desert is the theme and inspiration for the winter collection.  Coarse salt is used as the catwalk to impersonate Chilean salt desert. My personal standouts from this collection would have to be the two transparent dresses which featured strategic leather stars created by the designer.  They were a little risqué without going over the line.

Those were some of the collections for the winter 2016 season.  I am curious to see what next season will bring for São Paulo fashion scene.
