On Tuesday, it was announced that
Insecure star Issa Rae is the newest brand ambassador for beauty brand Cover Girl. As reported by UPI
Rae states, "I remember being an awkward black girl in high school,
reading the pages of my favorite magazines, casually flipping through
@COVERGIRL ads, singing their slogan in my head. Never EVER in my life did I
imagine I'd be one,".

A CoverGirl representative said in
a statement to Glamour that Rae's humor, approach to life and candidness made
her a perfect ambassador for the brand.
Rae joined the ranks of noteworthy
faces such as Zendaya, Janelle Monáe, Queen Latifah,
Katy Perry and much more. No more details of the collaboration have been
released yet. We will keep you posted as the story develops.
Rae is first known for her fan
favorite YouTube series The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl.
She stars in
the successful HBO’s comedy series which she serves as creator.
