Happy 1^st day of June.  We are getting even closer to Summer.  We are in the midst of working on all new content for June we want to rewind to some of our favorite posts from May.  Although there were many to choose from, we were able to narrow down our favorite eight.

Starting tomorrow you can purchase the new Cover(t) Stick Color Corrector by Marc Jacobs Beauty on their website.  According to the website the corrector provides a fool proof protection.  It will also be available in three colors such as Bright Now (pink-and-lilac brightens dullness), Covert Affairs (citron-and-lime neutralizes redness) & Getting Warmer (peach-and-caramel evens hyperpigmentation).  Each stick is also specially formulated with shade filters in marbleized hues brighten dullness, neutralize redness, and even skin tone.   It is priced at $42.   Ladies, have you tried other CC creams currently on the market? Sundial Brands the manufacturer behind famous natural beauty brands such as Nubian Heritage and Shea Moisture is launching a new hair care line called Madame C.J. Walker Beauty Culture for Sephora. This is the line marks the company’s first prestige hair care launch.  According to the press release will consists of four collections that will address the cleansing, treatment and styling needs of all hair textures. Products and collections include Brassica Seed & Shea Oils Collection (Smoothing/Style-Extending), Coconut & Moringa Oils Collection (Frizz Fighting/Humidity-Blocking) and Jamaican Black Castor & Murumuru Oils Collection (Curl-Defining/Moisture-Sealing) – and one treatment collection – Dream Come True Collection (Scalp & Strand Nourishing).  The line will exclusively be sold in Sephora stores and Sephora.com on March 6^th.  For more information visit Sundial Brands.

        Makeup mistakes happen more often than we would like. They can range from picking out the wrong foundation for your particular skin tone to not changing out your makeup regularly. However, these simple mistakes can be easily fixed. Who better to offer advice than the professionals themselves.  I reached out to several makeup artists to get their personal opinions and I connected with one for her advice. Sidney Soriano is a Certified Makeup Artist.  Here is what she had to say.

1) Choosing the Wrong Foundation

           Most women wear foundation that is too red or too light for them. You can tell by comparing their face to their neck. This is because when women go shopping for their foundation, they try to find a foundation that matches their face. However, the key to matching your foundation is to make sure it matches your chest or arms. Since we like to show skin during summer, our body gets more tan than our faces. Another trick would be to learn what tone your skin is. You can be warm or cool toned. To check, simply hold out your arms in the sun, and see if your veins are green or blue. If they are green, you are warm toned. If they are blue, you are cool toned. This helps narrow down your choices when you are out shopping for your foundation.

2) Incorrect Eyelash Application

                Who doesn't love false lashes?! They can step up your smokey eye to a whole new level! The problem is, not only are they a hassle to apply but right when you finally got the glue to stick, you realize that they make your eyes look lopsided. Simply looking straight into a mirror will not cut it. What I found the most helpful for making sure the lashes are aligned correctly, is to look down into a mirror. You can purchase one of those round mirrors that stand on their own, they are the most helpful. You hold your lashes with your tweezers or hands, whatever works for you, and look down into a mirror. This way, you can align the false lashes with your own lashes. Remember to get the false lashes as close to your lash line as possible!

3) Excessive use of blush

Blush is very fun to apply. It can warm up our face and give us a more fun fresh look. The problem is, blush is meant to look natural. Most women will wear blush that is very pink, purple, or even red. They will also apply blush on most of their cheek, or in a harsh diagonal line. My go-to blush color will always be coral. It works for almost every skin tone. For darker skin tones, a mango color will do. For very fair skin, an apricot blush is best. For olive and tan skin, coral is a must. Now that you know the right color, where do you apply the blush? You apply it under your pupil. How far under? Where your nostrils are. Dip your brush in only one time, shake off the excess, and apply. If you need to, dip your brush a second time. After awhile, you won't need to dip your brush as much because it will already have some from the previous time.

4)Eyeshadow Misuse

Smokey eye can be very complicated. Here is a simpler way to achieve the smokey look. You put a color the same as your eyelid color on your brow bone. The "standout" color goes on your crease. Any color can go on your lid. The most common mistake I see is the crease color blended too high, making your eye look heavier and older. Look in the mirror while you are applying your crease color. If you close your eyes while applying the crease color, you will end up blending it too high. You want the crease color right where you eyeball sinks in. Do not apply too much color, and blend! This will create the smokey or "bedroom eyes" look.

    It seems like if you can think of it there is probably subscription box for it. If you are searching for fashion related boxes then you are in luck.  Here I have selected five subscription boxes that you should check out.  

Birchbox

        This subscription box is a favorite among makeup mavens and beauty fans alike.  Since launching in September 2010, the brand offers subscribers, 4 personalized beauty samples and a lifestyle extra such as hair tie or energy bar.   There is also the option to shop for Birchbox exclusive product samples and kits. The brand now specifically tailored to the guys with the launch of Birchbox Man which was launched in April 2012.   I think this service is great for men and women who might want to test out a new product before going out to buy out a full-size version. Rent The Runway

       Have you ever wanted to look red carpet ready without the designer price tag? Then Rent the Runway is the subscription service for you.  Subscribers can choose from thousands of styles ranging from dresses to accessories from the biggest designers. You can select two timeframes: four days for a weekend and eight days for if you are going on a vacation. Returns are free and they handle dry cleaning. Ipsy

This subscription service was launched by Makeup demonstrator, entrepreneur, and YouTube Personality Michelle Phan in September 2012.  For $10 a month, subscribers will receive deluxe samples and full-size beauty products in a Glam Blag. The products are chosen by Phan herself along with her team of stylists. After receiving your first bag, you can watch tutorial videos from the stylist on how to get the Look.  I think fans of Phan and her tutorials will want to try it out. 

Dia and Co.

Dia and Co. is an online personal styling service catering to women with curves sizes 14-32.

After completing their only survey, you will receive an email to schedule your 1^st Dia box to be delivered.  If for any reason you need to change your scheduled day you send an email to their support.  The pro to this box subscription is you can opt –out if you are not satisfied. Just be mindful the $20 non-refundable styling fee.   

Beauty Army

Beauty Army is a personalized beauty and personal care service. It has been featured on Allure, Cosmopolitan, and WWD. Subscribers have their choice of six samples.   Monthly subscriptions are $12.00 and $132 for a year is a personalized beauty and personal care service. If you want less than six samples then you chose that as well. What stood out to me is that ability to skip a month and give the gift of a subscription.

Do you have a favorite fashion item that you look forward to buying? If you are anything like me one of those items would have to be nail polish.  Over the years I have bought several of my favorite shades from affordable brands (i.e. Wet n’ Wild) to more luxury brands (i.e Sephora).
