Thursday marked the end of New York Fashion Week (Autumn/Winter 2016). Over the week, designers showcase their fall offerings awaiting fashion fans, insiders, and celebrities. For those of us who didn’t get a chance to catch all the collections or just need a quick refresher we here at My Own Sense of Fashion have you covered. Read below as we highlight some of the collections that were front and center each day. Let’s start with Day 1.
Day 1 (2/11/16)
BCBG Max Azria Autumn/Winter 2016 Ready-To-Wear

Lurex was a major fabric used throughout the collection. This collection also had no shortage of inspiration with looks inspired by the late David Bowie, American Bandstand, and Flashdance.
Day 2 (2/12/16)
For this collection it was all about the tattoo parlor meets fashion. Shoji communicates this with body stockings that mimic a full body tattoo. I think it was an interesting because it was creative without going overboard.

It was an interesting mixed of solid and printed looks (Art Deco jacquards and filigrees).
Day 3 (2/13/16)

Metallic skirts, rhinestone chokers, and whisper-sheer dresses are some of the looks that make an appearance during this collection.

High necks, calf-scraping hemlines, plaid upon plaid, William Morris–esque wallpaper florals are some of the details for autumn 2016 collection.
Day 4(2/14/16)
Public School Autumn/Winter 2016 Ready-To-Wear

According to Vogue Runway Design Duo Chow and Osborne weren’t directly referencing the look of post-punk New York. Instead, the designers sought inspiration from war zone tone from the film Warriors.

Key parts of this collection to take note of are the knee-high boots, beading, and fur.
Day 5 (2/15/16)

The designer uses 3-D embroideries for designs during this collection.
Reem Acra Autumn/Winter 2016 Ready-To-Wear

Seduction, Deco-style strips, and geometric shapes are some of the elements.
Threeasfour Autumn/Winter 2016 Ready-To-Wear

3-D printing is used throughout the collection the designers called Biomimicry.

The designer joins feminine looks along with boyish looks for this collection.

Off all things the designer teams were inspired by moths was the inspiration for this particular collection. The color palette includes color such as emerald and wine.
Day 7(2/17/16)

Metropolis met the eerily romantic illustrations of Italian artist Daria Petrilli is the inspiration for this collection.
Marchesa Autumn/Winter 2016 Ready-To-Wear

The pair named the royal gardens at Highgrove House in Gloucestershire as a touchstone for their fall collection.
I really enjoyed the fine detailing of these gowns in this collection.
Day 8 (2/18/16)
See by Chloé Autumn/Winter 2016 Ready-To-Wear

Flounced sleeves, flock inspired lood Swiss dots, and plissé paisleys are some of the elements.

Tamara de Lempicka’s graphic Art Deco paintings and Sheila Metzner’s delicate, soft-focus photographs are the inspiration.
