While some were still taking in all the trends from New York Fashion Week here comes London Fashion Week. The five-day fashion week just wrapped up yesterday. Some of the biggest trends that we notice are floral prints and bright colors. Now, of course, we can’t recap all of the collections from the week. Instead here are some of the collections for each day of action. Check out which collections made the cut below.
Day 1(2/19/16)
Victorian architecture is the main inspiration for this collection. The clean, crisp lines allow you to focus more on the fine detailing of the pieces. Sometimes, out of the box designs and etc. are not necessary.

This collection has an overall minimalistic feel with hints of metal. Our favorite pieces would have to red wool trench coats and the cream oversized coat.
Day 2 (2/20/16)

According to Vogue Runway the designer states, “I was thinking about 24 hours, what this girl is doing—waking up and being relaxed, going through the day, then to a disco party.”

The inspiration for this collection was based on the ’60s Japanese cult classic Tokyo Drifter. What we appreciate is a diversity of the models that walked the runway.

For this collection, Pugh was all about women in charge with bold pieces such as pantsuits and interesting Hannibal Lecter hockey masks. The standouts from this collection would have to be the stars featured looks paired with the 40’s victory rolls hairdos.
Day 3 (2/21/16)

In typical fashion, Westwood gave fashion fans plenty to talk about. This collection has a little bit of everything. To the “patchwork quilt” to plaid features looks the designer did not lack in details. For the woman who frequently switches her look this collection is for her.

Sailor-worthy tattoos, sea creatures, and frogging as found on naval uniforms were the key elements for Temperley London’s Fall 2016 collection.
Day 4 (2/22/16)

Moralioglu was inspired by “1920s shifts, ’30s bias-cut gowns, and’40s tailoring. The Canadian designers manage to combine three decades of fashion without one overshadowing each other. That is definitely not an easy task to say in the least.

You can miss the poppies influence throughout this collection by the designer. Given the use of this flower and theme of this collection (Thomas De Quincey in Confessions of an English Opium-Eater), it all manages to flow together without being overkill. Floral is a print that can be overpowering if used in excess.
Day 5(2/23/16)

The Living Room series by English photographer Nick Waplington helps tell the story of this collection. This collection marks another appearance of floral prints and also includes wearable looks made from high-quality fabrics (silk, and velvet).

Designer team Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida invite their friends to walked the runway in lieu of the usual models. It really helped to get the collection a more “normal everyday people” feel. The use of pink runway really allowed the viewers to focus even more on the collection. Although, this wasn’t our favorite collection of the day we appreciate the different approach to their runway show.
London has left another mark on the fashion week schedule with its fall offerings. Next up is Milan with designers ready to show what they have for this upcoming season. What did you think so far?
